Today on the phone

The phone's Field tab opens on Today: the day on one screen, as big buttons in the order a day goes. What's on it depends on who you are. A foreman sees the crew's day; a crew member sees only what's theirs.

What the office sent

A foreman's Today starts with the dispatch: the job and where, the start time, where to meet, the crew and the machines. Tap the crew line, then a name, for that person's phone and emergency contacts. With no dispatch it says No job sent for today. Pick your job., with the jobs to choose from. A crew member sees what the office said on their clock, or No job from the office today. Choose yours below.

Lower down, for everyone, is Your next two weeks once the planners have published, with any changed days to confirm. A job's superintendent also sees when the look-ahead is due, and anyone hauling a machine, or getting one, sees Machine moves for the next three days.

A foreman's Today

Anyone who enters crew time gets the day in a few rows, in the order it goes:

  • Who's clocked in, like 3 of 5 clocked in. It opens Clock the crew.
  • My time: their own clock.
  • Start the day: today's hazards, the talk, and everyone signs once.
  • Walkarounds 2 of 3, and any trench to inspect.
  • Finish the day: who worked, machines, what went in, what happened. It's always there, and it's where the day is sent.
  • Add to today: Photo, Ticket and Delivery.

One orange bar is pinned at the foot, above the tabs, and it's always the next thing: Next: Clock in all 5, Next: Clock in, Next: Start the day, nothing while the crew works, then Next: Finish the day. A row that's done shrinks to a line with a check, so the page gets shorter through the day. See The crew time card and Daily reports.

A crew member's Today

A crew member sees only what's theirs:

  • My time: Clock in, Clock out, Switch job or code and breaks, with a line that opens My hours.
  • Check your hours, only when someone else entered or changed them.
  • Sign for today, once they're on the clock and there's something to sign.
  • Their machine's walkaround, Walk around the 336, Before you start.
  • Report a problem, and Your next two weeks.

One orange step leads, the next thing to do. On a first day, a card lists it in three lines: clock in, walk around your machine, clock out. The time card, the daily report, tickets and deliveries are the foreman's, so a crew member doesn't see them. See Your time card.

A weather day

Whoever writes the day's report sees the weather on Today, as the office looked it up for the site (Weather today: …). On a bad day, answer Did the weather stop work today? with one tap: Rained out or Too wet to work. The schedule moves the day's work and says what moved. Tap it again to take the mark off. With no signal it's saved on the phone and sent later.

Report a problem

Below the steps, in red and never buried, is Report a problem for everyone. It opens five buttons:

  • Stop the work.
  • Someone got hurt: the quick questions, with the job filled in.
  • Something unsafe: a hazard or a near miss, with no injury form.
  • Any other incident: the long form.
  • A machine has a problem: the problem report for your machine (or the machine list), with how bad it is: Can wait, Needs a look soon, Needs a look today or Unsafe.

More

What a foreman does now and then is one level down, under More, in four groups. A row with nothing in it isn't shown, and unread Notices sit above the groups.

  • Safety: Toolbox talk, My fixes and the job's Forms.
  • Machines: Machines, with Scan a machine as its first button.
  • Paperwork: Site tickets, Expenses, Past days, Material (ask the office for material), To-dos, Punch list and today's Pours.
  • Plans and people: Where you'll be, the superintendent's Look-ahead, machine moves, Crew production and Jobs.

A crew member's More is shorter: toolbox talks, machines, their expenses, to-dos and where they'll be. Ask Aggrado is on the Account tab, for everyone.

Made for gloves

Every real action on Today is a big button across the middle of the screen, never a small link in a corner, so it works with gloves on and in glare. Times read like 7:45 am. Everything works with no signal: the bar at the top says what's still waiting to send.
